better world. mighty FIBRE.

IT IS URGENT

According to Science Direct, global use of plastics is expected to increase from 464 million tonnes in 2020 up to 884 million tonnes in 2050. Manufacturers and consumers around the world are actively seeking high-performance materials and products that enable them to choose away from unsustainable petrochemicals. Fibre derived from Harakeke phormium tenax can perform at the same or superior levels to most other natural, and synthetic fibres, enabling people to choose the products we all need, that will turn the tide

MIGHTY FIBRE

Fibre from Harakeke has the potential to replace most synthetics – in ropes and twines, composite alternatives to carbon fibre, fibre-reinforced cement board, insulation, re-usable shopping bags, skis and boards, apparel, upholstery, hybrid co-fibre, automotive fit-out, geo-textiles…the possibilities are almost endless! Harakeke composites may yet be seen in space exploration!

MATTER OF FACT

Unlike any other natural fibre plant, Harakeke contributes to healthier biodiversity and improved waterways on under-utilised farmland, as well as providing significant carbon sequestration. Harakeke cultivation has the potential to enhance cultural and social well-being for Whenua Maori. Restorative harvestable planting of Harakeke, avoids use of land better suited to food production.
